WAS

Workers Against Sectarianism

Founded in 2019 in Baghdad by a group of Iraqis to fight for social justice in Tahrir Square, who participated in the uprising of the October Revolution. WAS aims to spread the voice of the lower class and its political struggle to the world and people inside and outside Iraq, and to practice politics in residential neighborhoods.
In our archive, reports, articles and interviews, we criticize the sectarian system and highlight the struggle of the people, working class against sectarianism. WAS believe that the working class is the main engine of the current revolution. We participate in protests and sit-ins, we support progressive ideas and engage with all progressive movements and their activities.
We have several video campaigns such as "Our Narrative", "Our Alternative", and "Street Life".
With "WAS Community", we hold awareness sessions in working-class neighborhoods in order to exchange information and ideas between the workers’ families and us. We try to delve into the society in which we live and share our progressive and political ideas, starting with our family, our neighbors, and the neighborhood in which we live. We believe that by practicing politics with the community, we will be able to build a deep social and political alternative.
