Farmers Bazaar

On July 10th, the Rosa Luxemburg Stiftung–Beirut Office, in collaboration with Art+, organized a vibrant alternative farmers’ bazaar showcasing sustainable and clean local produce from farmers across various regions of Iraqi Kurdistan.

The event took place at the Public Azadi Park in Slemani and drew hundreds of visitors and stakeholders who enthusiastically supported the farmers by purchasing their fresh, locally grown goods.

My goal is to help revive our villages and reconnect people with their roots. I’ve also built a brand dedicated to supporting and promoting local produce, offering a bridge between the village and the cities. The products consist of sumac, and honey and other things. Our mountains are famous for brown sumac and honey which is also produced from the sumac flowers.

Attendees expressed deep appreciation for the opportunity to access chemical free and sustainably cultivated produce from small scale farmers in Sharazaur (Halabja and Hawraman), and Sharbazher from Dere village, as well as the village of Galala in the Mawat province. Several other small local food producers and businesses from Slemani also participated in the bazaar.

Our village has been trained by Rosa Luxemburg Organization to produce chemical free produce. All of our fruits that are sold here are clean
