Azad Milî is from the Northern Syrian town of Amouda. As a leftist Kurdish activist, he has long advocated for political and social change in Syria. He was active in the Kurdish political scene until 2013, when he decided to concentrate on social and grassroots work in North East Syria instead. He specializes in ethnic groups within Syria. He works on projects for a local Syrian NGO that promotes local peacebuilding in mixed communities and for gender and transitional justice.
