On December 13, 2023, during the short film screening section of the (tenth) 10th Duhok International Film Festival held at Duhok Mall in Iraq/Kurdistan, the RLS short film "Gwez w Nakhl" was screened. “Gwez W Nakhl: Journey towards Food Sovereignty” is a short documentary and one of the poignant outcomes of a flourishing network that bridges geographical divides. The event started with the screening of short films, followed by Q & A sessions. Nihad Mohammad, a member of the Gwez w Nakhl collective, introduced the RLS film, the network, and their work in Pirozana village,( representing the Gwez w Nakhl film). The event was attended by members of the Dohuk community, including youth and artists from the festival, the Slemani team, the Mohammad family (Nihad, Iman, and their brother), along with the directors of the short films. After the screening, the organizers and attendees engaged in a productive and friendly discussion about the film, emphasizing the importance of food sovereignty and agroecological farms in Kurdistan and Iraq. Nihad Mohammad, Iman Mohammad, Rebaz Omer, and Bakhtyra Ali briefly shared their experiences (with) in gardening and interacted with the audience, advocating for the work of Iraqi and Kurdish farmers who grow clean and nutritious food.
