Protests Against Confidence Vote for the new cabinet

11 February 2021

Mass protests take place in central Beirut as MPs gather for a confidence vote for the new cabinet. The protesters tried to block politicians from entering the Parliament to vote on the new cabinet. Security forces continue to use intensive force and crack down on protesters leaving 280 people wounded and hospitalized. The protests erupted in response to the persistence of the ruling class to re-invent itself under the new administration without proper plan for social and financial reform that addresses the economic crisis.
